The 2025 Atharobhola LAMPS election stands as a significant event in Tripura’s political landscape. Held on 25th July, the election concluded with five candidates from the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) being declared winners without any opposition, as no candidates from rival parties submitted nomination papers.
The election process was conducted in a structured and timely manner. The draft voter list was published on 26th June 2025, followed by the final list on 2nd July. Nomination forms were distributed from 7th July and submitted by 14th July. Scrutiny of nominations was completed on 16th July, and the withdrawal deadline was 17th July.
Since no opposition candidates filed nominations, the Election Officer, Mr. Tapan Shukla Das, officially declared all BJP candidates elected unopposed at 12 noon on 25th July.
The five elected BJP candidates are:
- Janma Bahadur Jamatia
- Birendra Mohan Jamatia
- Kalyan Manik Molsom
- Bishwarani Jamatia
- Hujur Som Molsom
To mark the occasion, a victory meeting was organized, attended by prominent party leaders such as Amar Jamatia, President of Trish Bagmara Mandal, and Ramchandra Debnath, Vice Chairman of Tepania Panchayat Samiti, along with other party workers and supporters. The elected candidates were felicitated with garlands and congratulatory speeches.
This uncontested victory is seen not just as a procedural outcome but as a testament to BJP’s strong grassroots presence and public support in the region. While the absence of opposition raises some critical questions, the result clearly reflects the dominant organizational strength of the BJP in Atharobhola.
