Udaipur Correspondent, August 4:
In recent times, the state has witnessed a disturbing rise in the number of married women going missing from various regions. Almost every day, missing reports are being filed in police stations, raising serious questions about the law and order situation. This unusual trend has become a major concern for both the administration and society.
According to police sources, the majority of the missing individuals are newly married women. Families are often unable to provide any helpful information, further complicating the investigations. The administration admits that such a sharp spike in missing cases has rarely, if ever, been seen before. Naturally, panic and fear are spreading rapidly among parents and guardians.
Amidst this alarming trend, a recent incident from the East Khupilong Gram Panchayat under the Udaipur sub-division has triggered fresh anxiety. A local resident, Sujan Debnath (son of Harimohan Debnath), has reported that his wife, Tanushree Debnath, has gone missing. According to Sujan, his wife has been untraceable since around 4 PM on July 31, 2025.
Tanushree Debnath is the youngest daughter of Toton Debnath from Murabari, Bishalgarh. The couple was married socially in the Bengali month of Baishakh last year. Their marital life had been peaceful, with no prior reports of disputes or quarrels. However, after a recent visit to her parental home, Sujan noticed some unusual behavior in Tanushree. Despite this, he never confronted her or argued about it.
Following her disappearance, Sujan made every effort to find her, including contacting her family. However, no one could provide any clue about her whereabouts. Eventually, on July 31, Sujan filed a missing report at the Killa Police Station. For the past five days, police have conducted searches in multiple locations but have failed to uncover any leads.
Meanwhile, Sujan has also alleged that he is being mentally harassed by certain individuals from his wife’s side. Fearing for his own safety, he has filed a separate complaint at the Killa Police Station.
The incident has caused widespread panic and concern throughout the Khupilong area. Locals, as well as community leaders, are now demanding swift police action and the safe return of the missing woman.
