“No Escape for Influential Faces Behind Drug Trade” – Tripura CM Manik Saha Warns

Independent Correspondent | 17 July:-
Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha has issued a stern warning against those involved in the illegal drug trade, making it clear that even socially respected and influential individuals will not be spared if found guilty.

“People can go to any extent for the lure of money. Among us are individuals who appear well-mannered, cultured, and respected in society, with access to every corner. It pains me to know that even such people are involved in the drug trade,” CM Saha said at a recent public gathering.

Delivering a strong message, he added, “I am warning them clearly—once you get trapped in the legal net, no one will be able to save you.”

Dr. Saha reaffirmed his government’s zero-tolerance policy toward narcotics and emphasized that the mission to make Tripura drug-free is a collective responsibility. “Drugs don’t just ruin a person—they destroy entire families, society, and the next generation,” he noted.

While several professional drug rackets have already been busted under ongoing anti-narcotic drives, the Chief Minister made it clear that now even those enabling the trade from behind the scenes—no matter how powerful—are under scrutiny.

His remarks have triggered a wave of discussions across political and administrative circles, signaling that Tripura’s government is ready to take bold steps, regardless of status or power, in its war against drugs.
