Driver’s Tragic Death in Chakmaghat Sparks Protest and Highway Blockade in Teliamura

News Correspondent, Teliamura | August 6

A tragic accident occurred at Chakmaghat in Teliamura when a cement-laden truck from Dashda-Kanchanpur area lost control and overturned. The driver, Mihir Lal Debnath, fought for his life for nearly six to seven hours but sadly succumbed to his injuries. The incident has starkly exposed serious administrative failures.

In protest, and to hold the administration accountable, the CPI(M) Teliamura Subdivision Committee organized a silent rally through Teliamura town, with participants wearing black badges as a mark of condemnation.

Simultaneously, the All Driver Welfare Association blocked the Assam-Agartala National Highway at Chakmaghat, staging a demonstration demanding a proper investigation into the death of driver Mihir Lal Debnath. The blockade was lifted after nearly two hours following assurances from the administration.

The untimely death of Mihir Lal Debnath has sparked widespread unrest and concern across the entire Teliamura subdivision.
